2023 February 2023

February 2nd 2023

Okay, so after a gap of only 13 years I’ve been thinking of posting on my blog again.

I’ve no idea what I want to talk about, I’ll probably be rambling as usual but will be adding lots of pictures of whatever I’m doing.

I’m going to add some of my favourites from last years 100 day collage challenge before I start adding images from this years challenge which will be starting mid February.

This one was number 12 in last years challenge and is at the moment hanging in the Royal Cambrian Academy, Conwy, after being selected for the Open Exhibition.

15th May 2010 – Any Ideas?

Does anyone have any clues as to what this is? – I found it stuck in the mud in Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, while we were walking the dog.  Haven’t got any idea what it is.

Yes I do still pick things up that I find, I can’t help myself.

14th May 2010 – M.O.T Day

Another boring day today, took the car for it’s MOT the other day and had to go back for a retest today but came out with the correct piece of paper this time, complete with nice new tyres.

The picture is the MOT station ceiling through the rain on the car windscreen.

13th May 2010 – Time for a Consult

Took a trip back to Liverpool Hospital, a check up for Paul with his consultant – he was given a glowing report, and apart from a check on his pacemaker in a few weeks told to come back in 6 months.

I will not miss the travelling to Liverpool, we had to go via the tunnel today because of roadworks – I HATE tunnels, but this is my favourite bit, when I can see the daylight at the other end.

12th May 2010 – Dandelion Magic

I’ve been messing about in the garden, with some filters on the lens, they made the dandelions look a bit better anyway. (Maybe I should try and find some time for the weeding soon)

10th May 2010 – Bodlondeb, Conwy

Not a very exciting day today – a trip to the council offices at Bodlondeb in Conwy to pay council tax, but it is the prettiest place I’ve ever paid my council tax.

8th May 2010 – Looking through the Lens

It got a little boring today, hanging around the garage waiting for petrol to siphon out and then working out why the car still wouldn’t start. Anyway I found lots of things to take pictures of and keep me occupied.

7th May 2010 – Anyone got a Duster?

Ooops, My Dad filled the tank of their diesel car right to the top with petrol, we spent a few hours in the garage figuring out how to siphon it all out.

I’m not sure that the spiders who live here are glad of the company though.

6th May 2010 – Time to Vote!

Well I was not going to bother voting but then I figured that if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have the right to moan about anything the government did for the next 4 years, no matter who gets in.

5th May 2010 – Fire on the A55

We got caught in a traffic jam today on the way home, it turned out to be a van on fire on the other carriageway.  Frightening, it reminded me of the time my car went up in flames, packed with 4 children and all our new clothes ready to go on holiday. Thankfully no one was hurt, either today or ten years ago.

3rd May 2010 – Colwyn Bay Prom Day

Bank holiday Monday and it’s not raining. We took a quick trip down to the promenade and the Fun day that is held every year on the May Bank Holiday. Thought I’d try and capture some of the colour of the occasion.

1st May 2010 – May Day! May Day!

The first day of May brings Lily-Jane’s christening, we were not sure she would still fit in the “Family” christening robe as she is now 11 months old, but she is still quite petite and it fits, just.

The robe is the one that I and my four brothers and sisters, my children and most of their cousins have been christened in, it is still beautiful after being used for approximately 55 years.

29th April 2010 – Finding Nemo?

Today is my brother in laws birthday, and so we took a drive up to Rowen to Conwy Water Gardens. It’s a great place for a walk round, free to get in, it has fishing lakes, ducks, chickens and cockerels that follow you around and a wonderful Pancake House, with savoury as well as sweet pancakes. They sell tropical fish and carp for ponds and every sort of equipment you could need to go with them, but the best bit has to be the new pair of otters out near the fishing lakes. Well worth a visit.

Happy Birthday, Owen !

OOOps nearly forgot to put a pic of the otters in for Sharon!

28th April 2010 – Cowpats and the Keys to Heaven

Today is my mother-in-law’s birthday, I can’t tell you which one because I would be in big trouble, but Happy Birthday, Mary!

We made a visit to the bird reserve in Conwy and had a rather good cup of hot chocolate in the cafe, anyway on the way out I spotted this patch of cowslips. Apparently the name comes from the Old English for cowpat, – “cuslyppe” because it grows in meadows used by cows.   According to legend, St Peter dropped the keys to Heaven and where they landed Cowslips grew.

27th April 2010 – Uncurling Ferns

I love watching ferns uncurling in spring, it’s like they are stretching out after a good nights sleep. I would love to make a time lapse film of this, to watch it happen faster, hmm, do I have the patience? I think so, maybe next year.

Those tulips I showed you the other day have all changed colour but they’ve not quite opened yet, it won’t be long though.

25th April 2010 – Shepherd or Cottage?

Did a little bit of cooking today, for a change, normally it is my better half who feeds us all. I thought I was making a Shepherd’s Pie but apparently it was actually a Cottage Pie, made with beef and not lamb, it was nice anyway.

24th April 2010 – Messin’ Around

Just a quick mess around with some new lens filters picked up in a second hand shop this week, some interesting effects, and a gorgeous model who is so used to the camera now she will pose any time I want.

The daffodils are beautiful at the moment but they will be even better when my gorgeous red and orange tulips open around them, it won’t be long.

22nd April 2010 – Oskar Kokoschkat

This is just a cute picture of my cat Oskar, messing about climbing up the trellis in the garden. I think the sunshine has affected him, he was very playful today.

A couple of Happy Birthdays today go to my little brother Michael who is 47 today and my almost Son-in-Law, Craig who is 21 years old today, who also has a new baby nephew Dylan born today.

21st April 2010 – Peace Disturbed Again

This is the very first aeroplane that I saw in the sky above North Wales after the ban on flights because of the dust from the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.

20th April 2010 – Mischievous Millie

We nipped around to see our friend Wendy tonight to talk about rings and wedding things. This is a picture of Millie who decided she definitely did not want to go back in the house just because we said so. She is gorgeous though.

19th April 2010 – PAINT at last!!

Painting at last, unfortunately I was only painting the so called ‘stainless’ steel bathroom shelves with black hammerite, because they have started to rust. I’m in the process of replacing all the white grout in the bathroom with black, ever had one of those jobs you wish you hadn’t started.

18th April 2010 – More Light Drawing

Just a few more lights from yet another journey down the A55. The last one on here I keep seeing different images in, like a crowd of people behind a stretch of barbed wire, or a group of animals jumping over a fence. (Honest I haven’t touched any alcohol…).

17th April 2010 – Light Drawing Part II

We’ve had a few busy days this week and not a lot of time to take photographs, so I’ve had to resort to taking pictures in the dark again, such a shame. I love playing with the lights when I’m bored and not driving, it also saves me ‘driving’ from the passenger seat too.
